A collection from among the very first motion picture camera shots with the camera itself in motion. Shafting the screen: the projector beam maintains its angle as it meets the screen and keeps on going, introducing volume as well as light, just as the Paris, Cairo, and Venice of a century ago happen to pass.

BiografieKen Jacobs wurde 1933 in New York, USA geboren. Er studierte von 1956 bis 1957 Malerei bei Hans Hofmann. Erste Filme realisierte er 1955. 1966 gründete Jacobs den Millennium Film Workshop, den er bis 1968 leitete. Ein Jahr später rief er das Department of Cinema an der State University of New York in Binghamton ins Leben. Hier lehrte er als Professor von 1974 bis zu seiner Emeritierung im Jahr 2000. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Hochschullehrer hat er eine Vielzahl von experimentellen Filmen und Videos gedreht, die weltweit gezeigt wurden. Darüber hinaus präsentiert er seit Mitte der 1970er-Jahre unterschiedliche Film-Performances unter dem Reihentitel „The Nervous System“ sowie ab 2000 „The Nervous Magic Lantern“.
